Two landmark buildings could be sold off to help fund £500,000 for a long-awaited community centre.
Queens Hall and the library building in Halstead have been earmarked by the town council to help repay a loan for the upcoming project on Butler Road, which will cost in the region of £1.5million.
Halstead Community Centre Charitable Company have now started a planning application for the piece of land donated by an anonymous source.
Chairman of the HCCCC Jackie Pell said: “It is really exciting seeing this come to fruition.
“People should not be alarmed by the plans to sell Queens Hall and the library as nobody will be displaced and the new community centre will more than cater for the groups that use them."
