Detectives investigating the Salary Brook murder have reiterated their appeal for a man seen on the trail.

The man was seen between 10.20am and 10.40am wearing a beige jacket, described as being an Italian designer item.

It was slightly longer than waist length and had brown buttons up the front and two pockets, also with buttons.

He was walking from the direction of the university towards the Greenstead estate.

He is described as being aged in his late teens to 30. He had very black, thick hair which was quite short and a two to three inch mop style on top. He was clean shaven, of average build, tanned appearance and was not wearing glasses.

He was wearing baggy trousers, which may have been lightweight cotton.

DCI Steve Worron said: "We have had a great response to our media appeals so far. The public has been really helpful in coming to us with information, but we still need more.

"Every time we make an appeal we have a surge of calls coming into our incident room. The people of Colchester are working together to help us gather information.

"Today, I would like to renew our appeal for anyone who may have been on the Salary Brook Trail between 10am and 10.40am on Tuesday, June 17, the day Nahid was murdered.

"Please come forward and talk to us if you have not done so before. Even if you think the information may not be of interest to us, please get in touch. You will not be wasting our time. You can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously with information. The number to call is 0800 555 111.

"People in Colchester can help us. Somebody local may know something that could give us a vital clue. Please come forward and help us find the person responsible for Nahid’s murder. Anyone with information should call the incident room on 01245 282103 – we are waiting for your calls."
