A school in Great Maplestead has applied to build a single storey extension.

St Giles’ School, Church Street, is planning an 18m squared extension behind the main school hall.

Jinnie Nichols, headteacher at the school, said: “We are going to be using the space as a new store for our PE equipment so that will free up the area that we currently used to be a group working space for students.

“The old equipment store won’t be used as a class room, but somewhere where groups of high ability children can be taken where they can be taught to the best of their abilities."
