A labourer from Halstead has been arrested in Braintree following reports of a domestic disturbance. 

Thomas Brown, 28, was arrested and charged with one count of resisting arrest on John English Avenue in Braintree after police were called shortly before 1.30pm on Wednesday June 18. 

Mr Brown, of Elizabeth Way, Halstead, is currently on police bail and will appear at Colchester Magistrates Court on Thursday July 3.

Why the specific mention of the person arrested being a 'labourer'?

What is the point of that?

It suggests to me that the journalist is loosely implying that that sort of thing is only to be expected of 'labouring class ruffians'.
