A brightly-painted play centre could get a make-under if it is transformed into six apartments and a retail space.
The eye-catching Kids Playhouse, in Trinity Street, Halstead, could be redesigned by ADA Architects who presented their pre-application plans to Halstead town council.
However architects could limit the number of bedrooms to one in each flat due to the lack of on-site parking.
Robert Light of ADA Architects Limited said: “For any town centre location, parking is going to be an issue and this site really doesn’t lend itself to parking on-site.
“Halstead has got a bus service but no trains, which will drive up the need for parking at new developments like this."
