Councillors have given the green light to plans to turn to turn an historic village pub into a school for pupils with special needs.

At a planning committee meeting last Tuesday, Braintree Council approved the proposal by Van Diemans Property Company, to turn the Sugar Loaves pub into a school, on the recommendation by planning officers.

Teaseldown School, an Independent Therapeutic Day School school for 11 to 16-year-olds, is currently based in Mill Road, Ridgewell, but now has permission to move into the Grade II listed 16th-century building, in Swan Street, Sible Hedingham.
