A Halstead shopkeeper is warning others after a brazen thief helped himself to takings.

Steve Kirby, who owns Steve’s Hardware in The Centre, was helping another customer when he heard his shop door open and someone come in.

Within a matter of minutes between £120-£150 in notes had been taken from his till and whoever had come in the shop had left.

Mr Kirby said: “These people have no scruples.
“Business is hard enough as it is.”

The suspect is described as English, aged about 25, 5 ft 10-11.
He had short brown hair and was wearing a black top with red writing on the front with dark trousers or jeans.
