Get rocking and rolling to help a young boy go on a once in a life time adventure.

James Smith, 12, of Great Yeldham, has organised a rock and roll evening to help him raise the money he needs to undertake his World Challenge expedition to Morocco.

The Stour Valley Community School pupil said: "We will spend the first week in Morocco helping renovate a school and the second we will be trekking the Atlas mountains and across the Sahara desert.

"There are 18 of us going from school and we will all have to work together for the two weeks.

"I'm really looking forward to the trip and think it's going to be great fun.

"I've never done anything like this before and I'm very excited."

He has organised a singer who does Elvis impersonations as well as other songs from the rock and roll genre to perform at the event to raise the money he needs to take part.

There will also be a raffle with prizes such as wine, chocolate and a fruit hamper, as well as other items donated by local businesses.

The event will take place on June 7 at Clare Town Hall, from 8pm until 11.30pm. Tickets are priced at £7.50 for adults and £5 for children. They are available from D:Fine hairdressers in Halstead, Haverhill and Claire.
