A court has given police more time to quiz a serial burglar believed to have been involved in more than 100 break-ins.

David Howard admitted five burglaries, including two in Halstead, and asked for another 39 to be taken into consideration when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Some £57,000 worth of property was stolen during the five raids, which happened between January and March.

The court heard Howard is also suspected of being involved in more than 80 other break-ins in the Halstead and Braintree areas during a similar time frame.
