A schoolboy got the opportunity to meet an idol after he got into trouble for a wrestling-inspired haircut.

Aidan Fradley, 13, was allegedly put into isolation at Ramsey Academy, in Halstead, in February after he had the letters “TNA” shaved into his hair ahead of a trip to London to watch Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling at Wembley Arena.

Mum Sophie Turkentine, of Mitchell Avenue, was furious with the school’s tough stance and took him home.

She initially vowed to keep Aidan off school until after half term so his hair had a chance to grow back, but she reluctantly had the sides shaved and he returned to school a couple of days later.

Deputy headteacher Calum Leys insisted the school’s policies were in line with others and said it did not permit “extreme hairstyles”.

After reading the story online and feeling a sense of guilt, TNA bosses in America contacted the Gazette to offer Aidan the chance to meet one of his favourite wrestlers, Gunner, next time he was in the UK.

That finally happened last Monday when the pair met the 6ft 2” star during an autograph signing.
