A Halstead horticulture student was among three handed jobs working alongside celebrity gardener Alan Titchmarsh.
Janet Atkinson, 44, of Larks Rise, Halstead, has been employed as a runner on Alan’s shows, Love Your Garden and Britain’s Best Gardens, along with fellow student Rosie Kippen.
Meanwhile, Catherine Fairhall-Lewis is also working as a researcher on Love Your Garden.
The trio all study at Writtle College, near Chelmsford, and will be involved in all aspects of the shows, from building gardens within a matter of days on location to sourcing plants and coming up with unusual ideas which gardeners can replicate at home.
Janet, who is a higher education associate student in horticulture, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me. It’s great to use my horticultural skills and knowledge in a whole new aspect of gardening that I never thought I would be part of.
“By working for Britain’s Best Gardens, it’s great to be able to show what an imaginative and passionate nation of gardeners we are.”
