Detectives are looking to identify a group of young men who were in a Chelmsford nightclub when a man from Southend was assaulted.

The attack happened between 2-3am on Sunday, March 23, in the smoking area at Evoke on Market Road.

The 18-year-old man was punched in the eye by a man following a disagreement about the victim’s girlfriend.

Paramedics initially treated the man at the scene for his serious eye injury, but he later received further medical treatment.

Investigating Officer, Dc Danielle Markoutsis, said: "This was clearly a hard punch administered by one of the men shown in the CCTV.

"We want to establish the events leading up to the disagreement and what was said. In order to do that, we need to identify and trace the men pictured. We think they are all aged in their early 20s.”

The young man does not recall the events from the night due to alcohol intoxication and the effects of the injuries he sustained.

Anyone with information on the identity of the men shown in the image is urged to contact detectives at Chelmsford police station on 101.
