A busy mum is cycling from London to Paris for charity.

Katie Martin, 35, of Mitchell Avenue, Halstead, will take on the 300-mile challenge on May 26.

The mum-of-two, whose sons Thomas, nine, and Ben, six, both attend St Andrew’s Primary School, said: “I’ve run a few half marathons and done the London to Brighton bike ride, but wanted a new challenge.

“Essex Air Ambulance is close to my heart, as my son Thomas was airlifted to Colchester General when he was ten months old with suspected meningitis.

“The crew were brilliant, even though I didn’t fly with them, I left that honour to my husband.”

The mum is aiming to raise £1,000 to split between Essex Air Ambulance and Panathlon, which provieds sports competitions and training days for young disadvantaged and disabled people across the UK.

She added: “I always think that if I can get to the start line, I can get to the finish line.”
