Yobs have been accused of undoing the hard work of the community after throwing a huge bin into a river.
Halstead is renowned for its picturesque riverwalk, but on Tuesday the area was blighted when a wheelie bin, belonging to Richard Edwards Group LLP accountants, was taken and thrown into the water near Chapel Street.
Andy Green, a partner at the firm in nearby Rosemary Lane, said: “It’s a bit of a shame really because so many people in the community do a lot for the town - Halstead in Bloom and various charities - and it just seems there are a really small minority who want to do things like that. I can’t really understand why."
