The smash hit comedy thriller “The 39 Steps” is coming to Halstead and Earls Colne, thanks to the local Amateur Dramatic Society The Stane Street Players.

The play, which is currently running at London’s Criterion Theatre, is loosely based on the Alfred Hitchcock film of the book “The 39 Steps” written by John Buchan and adapted by Patrick Barlow from an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon.

The Stane Street Players have pulled off a coup by being the first group in the area to perform this Laurence Olivier Award winning play and will be performing at a variety of venues throughout May.

The gripping ‘whodunnit’ adventure will feature 120 characters played by just six actors, over 33 scenes.

The group will perform at The Empire Theatre, in Butler Road, Halstead, on May 9, at the Earls Colne Village Hall on May 16 and 17, and to an invited audience at the Halstead Royal British Legion on May 10.

Shows start at 7.45pm, and tickets cost £10.

Tickets for the Empire performance are available by calling the box office on 07778025490 and to book seats at the Earls Colne performance call the hotline on 07866404715.
