Essex County Hospital to shut

Halstead Gazette: Essex County Hospital to shut Essex County Hospital to shut

Colchester's Essex County Hospital will shut in 12 months.

All 350 staff and services will be transferred to Colchester General Hospital or other medical centres.

Hospital bosses say parts of the site are outdated and it is better to deal with patients at one site.

The future for the Lexden Road site, which opened as a hospital in 1820, has not been resolved, but it is likely to be sold for housing.

OMPITA [Intl] says...

More meaningless Bluff and Bluster from Bhudeeka.

Nothing that matters is being 'closed'.

The services are simply being transferred from a building - that dates from when Charles Dickens was an eight year old kid and construction of the new Colchester Union workhouse was still a quarter of a century away - to a state of the art facility just two and a half miles away.

What is the point of beefing but this?

How stupid!

been well hiden in the National news but the staff bullying and Cancer falsifying
did not refer to the main new hospital

From the BBC News

A hospital accused of falsifying cancer patients' records and delaying appointments is to shut.

All services and clinics at Essex County Hospital, where 350 people are employed, are to be moved out.

Clinics at the hospital in Colchester include dentistry, breast screening, audiology, dermatology, ophthalmology and genito-urinary medicine.

Unison said the closure had been expected for 20 years and would benefit patients and staff.
