A songwriter who turned his life around after being sent to prison will perform a free concert with his band tonight.

Finny Music is a group of musicians led by singer/songwriter John Finlinson who aim to share their belief in God through stories, testimony and song.

The group have a prison ministry and are based in Woodbridge near to HM Prison Hollesley Bay also extend their work further afield to other prisons in the country.

A concert is being held by the group at Hedingham Baptist Church in Swan Street at 7.30pm where John will tell his story about how he left drugs and violence behind.

Mr Finlinson said: “We go into prisons with a message of change as a lot of the guys in there want change but many have tried time and time again but feel they can’t change.

“Some of our band members are ex-offenders so we go in with messages of change through our faith.

“By the age of 19 I’d been given a total of 11 years to serve and had no hope. I was a very evil and different person to who I am now but my experience with Christ turned my life around.

“Now I’m happily married, have a wonderful family and my own business and have no doubt that wouldn’t have happened before."

A retiring collection will be held for the Prison Ministry and Finny Music CDs will also be on sale.
