A politician is encouraging job seekers to attend a specially arranged event to meet with potential employers.

MP Brooks Newmark has organised a job fair, which will take place at Bocking Arts Theatre, in Bocking End, Braintree, on Friday from 10am to 3pm.

Mr Newmark said: “I recognise that it can be difficult to find a job if you don’t know what opportunities are out there, or if you haven’t been in work for some time.

“This jobs fair will be for free for anyone, whatever age, school and college leavers, undergraduates and potential apprentices.

“I would also like to invite those already in work, who are looking to improve their skills and employment prospects, or who simply want to change jobs and enhance their career.”

About 30 companies who are advertising vacancies will be attending the fair, which will also feature seminars and workshops.

Mr Newmark said: “The event will help all job seekers in Braintree, Halstead and the surrounding villages find jobs that are right for them.

“This will also be a fantastic opportunity for employers to meet talented, local people looking for jobs.”

The MP thanked Braintree Council, Jobcentre Plus, Ignite, Freeport Braintree and Amtek Aluminium Castings for their support of the event.
