Firefighters tackled an ambulance fire which had spread to the guttering of the station in Halstead.
The fire broke out while the vehicle was in the ambulance station yard in Fenn Road at about 9.30am today.
Two fire crews from Halstead had extinguished the ambulance fire by 10am.
They used two hose reels to put out the fire in the building by 10.22am.
A ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke.
Jason Gillingham, East of England Ambulance Service's general manager for north Essex, said: “Thankfully no-one was injured and the station was evacuated as a precaution.
“Our hazardous area response team (HART) and ambulance officers attended to assist with managing the incident, and the fire service were also in attendance.
“An internal investigation, supported by external specialists, has been launched to establish the cause of the fire.”
