A Junior Soldier from Braintree was top of the class when she graduated from the prestigious Army Foundation College in Harrogate.
Hannah West, 17, was awarded the prize as the Best Junior Soldier from the Royal Logistic Corps.
Hannah joined the Army Foundation College in September last year for the first of the newly designed courses combining vocational education and military training.
On the course, she had the opportunity to gain non-vocational qualifications in English, Maths and ICT as well as driver theory training.
“It was physically demanding,” said Hannah, a former Notley High School pupil, “especially the Battle Camp, which brought us all closer together after the experience.”
“I’ve got a brother in the Royal Signals, an uncle in the Royal Anglians and an aunt in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps – and I’m proud and honoured to be considered to be the best Junior Soldier going into the Royal Logistic Corps.”
