Would a rude sounding road name put you off buying a house?

Perhaps you cringe at your address sounding more like a furry animal or an un-PC comment.

A study for Needaproperty.com found road names bordering on the offensive sometimes resulted in cheaper house prices because people would be too embarrassed to live there - a suggestion Halstead estate agent Liam Riley has dismissed.

The assistant manager at Allen estates in Hedingham Road said: “The road name people snigger at in Halstead is Balls Chase, but people haven’t been put off buying or renting there because of the name.
“Swallow Walk sometimes provokes a snigger or a smile as well.

“At the end of the day, people buy because they like the house or the area, regardless of the name of the road.
