A much-loved shop assistant will spend more time with her family as she retires after decades serving the town.
Jan Griffiths, 67, worked her final shift at Wisebuys, in Halstead High Street, on Wednesday afternoon.
The grandmother-of-six has worked at Wisebuys for the past decade, having previously worked at McDowells and Martin’s in the High Street.
Jan, of Three Gates Close, said: “My husband has been retired for eight years and I think now is the right time for me.
“Obviously I will miss all the customers and all the people I have worked with, but it is time to spend some more time with my family.”
Staff at Wisebuys held a leaving party for Jan on her final day.
Shop manager Louise Sutton said: “She is a wonderful employee and nothing is too much trouble for her.
“All the little jobs just get done - she will always find something to do.”
