A wife is demanding a face-to-face apology from paramedics she claims were disrespectful to her husband, who suffers from dementia.

Sylvia Newbold, 75, of Church Street, Bocking, has lodged an official complaint against the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST).

Paramedics were called to Attwoods Manor, Halstead, on Boxing Day morning because Mrs Newbold’s husband, Stuart, was suffering from diarrhoea and sickness.

Mrs Newbold said: “The paramedics came and did nothing but take the mickey out of him."

She has also complained about the attitude of staff at Colchester General Hospital later the same day.

An EEAST spokesman said: “We are disappointed that Sylvia is unhappy with the attitude of our staff and we take these allegations very seriously.

“A thorough investigation is currently ongoing to find out the facts of the incident.”

Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust confirmed it has received a complaint from Mrs Newbold.
