Hundreds of cyclists will gather at Gosfield School this summer to raise funds for a children’s charity.

The Essex100 cycling challenge will take place on Sunday, August 31, in aid of Action Medical Research.

Organisers are calling for riders to sign up now to take part in the event.

There are three routes - 33 miles, 63 miles and 100 miles - available to register for.

Chris Chappell, who won a bike worth £1,800 for being last year’s top fundraiser, said: “My daughter Ava was born ten weeks early and spent over five weeks in the Broomfield neonatal unit and the care she received was amazing.

“Action Medical Research looks into ways to prevent premature birth and better ways to treat babies born too early.

“Almost everyone knows of someone born prematurely, so if you are thinking of signing up for the Essex100, please sign up and get fundraising.”

Participants will be raising money to help fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children.
