Trustees have agreed a new community hall for Halstead should be spread over two storeys.
The Halstead Community Centre Charitable Trust is leading the project to build the new centre in Butler Road, which cost cut up to £1.5million.
The centre, which will replace the now-demolished Senior Citizens’ Centre in New Street, will also include a relocated town library service.
At a meeting last month, trustees put forward ideas and suggestions for the centre, which will be passed to project leaders Burr and Neve.
Halstead Town Council has pledged a further £10,000 from its 2014/15 budget to cover costs associated with the project.
Braintree Council has set aside £650,000 of funding for the centre.
