Firefighters released two people who became trapped in their car after it crashed into a ditch.

Two crews from Halstead were called to an accident in Bures Road, White Colne, shortly after 10am today.

The East of England Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a hazardous area response team and two cars to the scene, along with the air ambulance.

Working with the Thames Air Ambulance, firefighters released the man and woman from the vehicle.

They were taken by ambulance to Colchester General Hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries, an East of England Ambulance spokesman said.
