A teenager who suffered a head injury after falling from his bike has thanked the pilot who airlifted him to hospital.

Hadyn Vaughan-Peacock, 14, is recovering from a bleed on the brain after a fall from his bike at the Ramsey Road skate park in August.

The Ramsey School pupil was taken home by pop star Matt Cardle before being airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital, in Cambridge, by the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

His family covered their house in Christmas lights to raise money for the charity and The Essex Air Ambulance.

Mariea Johnson, Hadyn’s mum, said: “In total we raised £897 which we split between the two charities.

“£454 was raised from the Christmas lights display and £444 was raised by a non-uniform day at Ramsey Academy.

“We met the pilot, Chris Sherriff, on the day we handed over the cheque and they let Hadyn sit in the pilot’s seat and showed him how everything worked, it was really nice.

“I’d like to thank the generosity of the public and Ramsey Academy, who have been really supportive.”
