School sets sights on £1million rebuild

First published in News

A school is hoping to get the go ahead to spend more than £1million on a major redevelopment project.

Gosfield School has given the Gazette an exclusive first look at plans to build a new state-of-the-art building for its pre-school, pre-prep and preparatory pupils in its grounds at Cut Hedge Park, in Halstead Road.

The proposals, which have been in planning for almost a decade, would see a large new building constructed on land next to its sports hall, with the existing demountable classrooms used by those age groups eventually demolished.

Chairman of governors Peter Sakal, who has been in the role for 15 years, said, subject to planning permission, the school hopes construction will begin in April and be finished by January next year.

A formal planning application is expected to be submitted this week.
