Almost 7,000 women in the Halstead area will be invited for routine breast screening.
The screening will take place in a mobile unit parked at the Solar store in Weavers Court, Halstead.
The first mammograms were scheduled to take place today and will continue until June.
Some 6,963 women will be invited for screening, including residents of Halstead, Sible Hedingham, Earls Colne, Colne Engaine, White Colne, Wakes Colne, Great Yeldham and Little Yeldham.
