From a dry cleaners in Made in Chelsea to a Christmas grotto in The Only Way is Essex, one councillor’s television career seems to be on a roll.

Eagle eyed viewers spotted Braintree councillor Stephen Canning in both shows, leaving friends joking he could be going into the jungle next.

The 20-year-old business management student can be seen in the background of the ITV2 show, The Only Way is Essexmas, as two of the families competed to see who has the best festive lights in Brentwood.

Mr Canning can be seen enjoying a drink as two of the show’s love rivals have a heart to heart.

He even had the chance to pose for a picture with the lion feature of the Bloor family’s winning display, which depicted The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Just weeks earlier Mr Canning had been spotted “working” in Jeeves dry cleaners in Chelsea, in the channel 4 show which follows the lives of rich young Londoners.

Speaking about his latest on screen debut, he said: “Well I thought I had cheated on my heritage by going on Made in Chelsea so I thought I had better get it back by going on the home show.
