Schoolchildren serenaded their elders with Christmas carols as part of the celebrations for a revamped housing scheme.
Pupils from Holy Trinity Primary School attended the official opening of Harold Sims House in Earls Colne.
Greenfields Community Housing has turned the original bedsits into self-contained flats, some of which are wheelchair friendly, and all for the first time have their own bathrooms.
It has also extended the communal lounge and added a conservatory, landscaped the garden and added a barbecue area, updated all the furniture and fittings and created a multi-use room with IT facilities.
Phil Adams, Greenfields’ Chief Executive, said: “It is fantastic to see tenants moving into their new home and to see them feeling comfortable and proud of where they live.
“This is the third scheme that we have remodelled and we have plans to transform another three by the end of 2015.”
