A primary school is celebrating after being rated as “good” by Ofsted.

St Peters Primary School, in School Road, Sible Hedingham, had previously been graded as “satisfactory” and headteacher John Smith was delighted with the improvement.

He said: “We were very pleased with the report as it represents some very hard work from the whole community, the school and our parents.

“I think the very good work that the school has done has finally been recognised.

“It’s very nice for the staff who have worked very hard.

“Prior to the Ofsted report our local authority, school improvement partner, our parents and our children thought we were a good school.

“But it’s a cherry on the top of the cake to have this from Ofsted.”

The latest report, based on an inspection in October, praised the improvement of the pupils’ achievements and higher-than-average attainment in English and Maths, as well as good teaching in well organised classrooms."
