Halstead: Mum left living in fear after no one is charged over arson

Halstead Gazette: Halstead: Mum left living in fear after no one is charged over arson Halstead: Mum left living in fear after no one is charged over arson

An arson attack victim is “living on edge” after the only suspect in her case was released without charge.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with a fire at Glenda Soames’ house in Mitchell Avenue on July 19, but he has now been allowed to walk free.

Mum-of-four Mrs Soames, who is separated, said: “I still look out of my window at night before I go to bed.

"It makes me worry because whoever did this is still out there.”

Mrs Soames and her family were asleep when a blaze began in the front garden and spread to the front of the house, causing one of the windows to explode and another to crack.

Strange things afoot in Mitchell Avenue aren't there?

First we have this nasty arson attack on Mrs Soames' house in July, followed a short time later by another apparent arson attack, this time on Sophie Turkentine's hanging baskets just a quarter of a mile or so down the same road.

As if this isn't mysterious enough in itself, just three weeks later Ms Turkentine then receives a 'crack of dawn' visitation by an unknown and somewhat confused gentleman who is deficient of his trousers!

By Gad Sir! they seem to be 'Rum Lot' in Mitchell Avenue do they not?

Perhaps it's time to send for Miss Marple.
