School pupils filled almost 100 boxes with gifts to send to poorer children abroad.

St Margaret’s Preparatory School, in Gosfield, takes part in the Rotary Shoebox Scheme every year, and handed over this year’s boxes to Halstead Rotary vice president Mike Prince.

Rotarian Tony Sale said: “For many, it will be the first present that they have ever received and it lets them know that somebody somewhere cares.

“Pupils from St Margaret’s Preparatory School in Gosfield have supported the Rotary Shoebox scheme for many years and this year was no exception.”

The boxes are sent to eastern European countries including Romania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Albania, Ukraine and Croatia.
