A bar worker who was celebrating getting the “all-clear” from cancer with a charity gig at Scenarios insisted trouble in the town had not marred the event.

Nikki Jordan, 24, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system, got the news that she was cancer free at the end of October.

To celebrate, the former Ramsey College pupil, who works at Scenarios, and friend Liz Weston had organised a fundraising gig at the bar on Friday.

About 200 people enjoyed the six acts on show and the event raised £1,095.09, which will be split between Cancer Research, CLIC Sargent and local charity Foley House.

However, the celebrations had to be cut short after police flooded the town centre following a “serious disturbance” outside Friends Chinese restaurant, in High Street.

The venue, which provided medical attention to a man with a serious cut to his shoulder, shut an hour early following a request from police.

Nikki, who lives in High Street, said: “It was a really good night.

“Unfortunately it had to finish a bit early with everything that was going on in town but it didn’t really matter and we carried on the party at home.”
