Halstead: Fire halts work at factory
3:00pm Sunday 27th October 2013 in News
Production was hit after a fire at a plastics manufacturer in Halstead.
Two fire crews from Halstead were called to RPC Containers, in Fourth Avenue, on the Bluebridge Industrial Estate, at about 6.40pm on Tuesday.
A spokesman for RPC Containers, which has been based at the industrial estate since 1994, said the small fire was caused by a short circuit in an electrical cabinet.
She added: “This triggered smoke alarms in the building, which was immediately evacuated. “The fire brigade attended as a precaution and the incident was quickly contained and dealt with. There were no injuries.
“There has been a loss of power to part of the factory as a result of the short circuit, and contractors are currently engaged to rectify the problem in order that full production can be resumed as quickly as possible.”
