Halstead: Mum wins VIP tickets for Cardle concert
5:00pm Friday 18th October 2013 in News
A mum has won VIP tickets to see Matt Cardle in concert after her son took part in a competition to say how much she deserved them.
Jeanette Barber, of Kemsley Road, Earls Colne, will be whisked off to London to watch Matt perform with three of her friends after winning the competition in The Daily Mirror, which asked readers to say why they deserved the tickets.
Mrs Barber’s husband, John, sadly passed away in January after a long battle with cancer and their sons, Harry, 12, and Charlie, 15, wrote into the newspaper to nominate their mum for the prize.
Corrine Wooldridge, who will join Mrs Barber at the Roof Gardens concert in Kensington tonight, said: “Harry wrote in to say his dad died and his mum works really hard to put food on the table and they won.
“We are all really excited. “It’s not something four regular mums get to do.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to dress up and go to town and we are really looking forward to seeing Matt perform in an intimate environment rather than miles away on stage in a big stadium.”
The pair will be joined by their friends, Penny Washbrook and Emma Dann, both also of Earls Colne, for full VIP treatment in the private club and cocktails.
