Halstead: Punch and Judy act say goodbye to railway
5:00pm Sunday 20th October 2013 in News
The Colne Valley Railway has waved a sad goodbye to its Punch and Judy act after 28 years of shows.
Professor Des and Mavis Turner, from Hertfordshire, have done Punch and Judy for the railway’s Victorian Days for 28 years but are now retiring.
Professor Turner is the puppeteer while Mrs Turner interacts with the audience.
He said: “The railway has been so kind to us they have booked us all these years.
“The Victorian days are for junior school children so it’s amazing because normally they wouldn’t watch the show but because its a school event and they get dressed up they really enjoy it.
“We’ve made so many friends and are both very grateful. It was always a real highlight of our year.”
