Halstead: Pupils step back in time for Victorian Day
5:19pm Monday 14th October 2013 in News
Pupils stepped back in time for a Victorian-themed visit to Colne Valley Railway.
Pupils and teachers from St Peter’s School, in Sible Hedingham, got into the spirit of the occasion by wearing full Victorian costume at the railway on Wednesday October 9.
They also took part in a Victorian Classroom session, held in a converted carriage on one of the trains.
Sally Halls, the office manager for the railway, said: "The children had a ride on the royal steam train and met Queen Victoria, who had a chat with all the children, although she did remind them that 'Children should be seen and not heard.'
"They were very well behaved."
A timetable of public events is available online.
