Halstead: Concert to celebrate 10 years of choir
5:00pm Friday 4th October 2013 in News
A choir will mark its 10 Anniversary with a special performance tomorrow.
The Halstead choir, Exaltation! will perform a celebratory concert at St Andrew’s Church, Parsonage Street, ten years after directors Jen Skingsley and Jane Banks formed the musical group.
The pair took inspiration from the film “Sister Act” to set up their gospel choir, which now has 20 members ranging between the ages of eight-years-old and 78.
The concert will be a celebration of the choirs achievements so far and will feature spirituals, gospel and pop songs chosen by the choir, interspersed with stories about the last 10 years.
As a special treat, previous members will be returning to join the current members of the choir during the concert.
Tickets for the concert are £5, with any proceeds being donated to the church and a retiring collection to St Helena Hospice.
