Halstead: Football nut Ryan to step out with Wales at international
1:00pm Friday 4th October 2013 in News
A Halstead school boy is hoping to rub shoulders with his Premier League heroes after winning a competition to be a mascot.
Ryan Clancy, ten, of Ramsey Road, has been picked to be a mascot for the World Cup qualifier between Wales and Macedonia at Cardiff City Stadium next Friday, after being selected through a competition run by fast food chain McDonald’s.
Premier League players including Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey and Swansea City’s Ashley Williams are likely to play, but the St Andrew’s Primary School pupil's dream of stepping out with Real Madrid star Gareth Bale was dashed after he was withdrawn from the squad through injury.
