Halstead: Elderly couple left for 42 days without a phone after fault

A pensioner is furious after engineers took six weeks to fix a fault with his phone line.
Peter Scott, 83, and his wife were without a landline from August 22 right up until last Wednesday when the problem was finally resolved.
Mr Scott, of Nether Court, Halstead, claims he immediately reported the fault to his provider, TalkTalk, and that BT engineers were sent out to identify the fault within days, but it was weeks before they returned to fix it.
A BT spokesman admitted there had been a three week delay between the fault being traced to a specific underground cable and contractors excavating the cable.
He added that the reason for the delay was being investigated.
