Halstead: Allotment plots unharmed by fuel spilt by thieves
3:00pm Monday 7th October 2013 in News
No serious damage was caused to an allotment site after thieves spilt fuel stolen from Halstead Ambulance Station.
More than 6,000 litres of fuel, worth almost £10,000, were stolen from the East of England Ambulance Service base in Colchester Road during successive raids on September 15 and 16.
During the getaway some fuel was spilt outside the St John Ambulance unit building and on a nearby allotment site in Colchester Road.
Last week, Halstead Town Council said its groundsmen had yet to assess the damage but the council has now confirmed that only a grass pathway was affected. Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the fuel theft.
