3:00pm Tuesday 8th October 2013 in News
The number of people killed or seriously injured on the district’s roads remains above the national average.
Statistics have now been higher than average since at least the publication of the Department of Health's 2007 health profile, although the figures have fallen significantly since then.
The 2013 profile shows there were 73 road injuries or deaths in the Braintree district between 2009 and 2011 or 49.8 per 100,000 population.
The national average is 41.9 per 100,000 population.
Between 2003 and 2005, the period covered by the 2007 health profile, there were 111 or 81.7 per 100,000 population.
