Halstead: Parents opt for home schooling
10:00am Monday 30th September 2013 in News
Parents are opting to remove their children from school education in instances where bullying is taking place.
Figures obtained from Essex County Council (ECC) show there are currently six children registered as home schooled in Halstead’s CO9 postcode area.
Mum-of-three Anita Albery, 43, of Stambourne, home schooled her eldest two children for two years after becoming frustrated with their experience at school.
Part of their home schooling process involved meeting up with other like-minded families and holding group sessions.
She said: “My son is 10 now and we took him out after reception when he was only four.
“He’d had seven teachers in a year and was not really going anywhere.
“My daughter had problems with bullying, which weren’t dealt with. She just got lost in a classroom of 30 and we got fed up with it."
