Halstead: Cadets going to great lengths for charity swim
7:00pm Friday 27th September 2013 in News
Air cadets are set to swim more than 1,400 lengths in their latest fundraising bid.
About 15 members of the 1163 Colne Valley Air Cadets are set to take on the challenge at Halstead Leisure Centre between 9am and 6pm on Saturday.
The hardy volunteers will be raising money for new equipment for their club, included much needed IT upgrades.
The club will have a stall in the foyer of the Colne Road centre, which has provided the cadets with two lanes free of charge.
Halstead Town Council vice-chairman Jackie Pell will also be there to launch the event.
It follows the cadets recent visit the Essex Air Ambulance Earls Colne base to be shown around and discover how the base operates.
The squadron, which also likes to support other local charities, presented a cheque for £200 to the air ambulance trust following fundraising earlier in the year.
