Halstead: Scooters ride out for Weller gig
1:00pm Thursday 26th September 2013 in News
Tens of scooters toured Halstead as part of a Weller weekender.
About 40 enthusiasts met outside Going Underground in the centre at about 2pm on Saturday before setting off down the High Street en-masse.
They caused quite a stir and shoppers and traders stopped to watch the procession.
The riders toured around Essex and Suffolk country lanes before returning to Halstead Town Football Club in Rosemary Lane for a barbecue.
There was camping available and many stayed to watch the Weller Collective perform at the Halstead Empire Theatre.
The event was organised by Going Underground, Halstead Town Football Club and The Empire Theatre.
Sam Tedder, 47, of Halstead, went to the event with his custom painted scooter which is called The Riddler as it pictures the batman character.
He said: “My seven-year-old said you have got to call it The Riddler now dad.
“I always go on the ride outs, it just gets everyone together.”
