Halstead: Coffee morning on Friday in memory of much-loved father
11:06am Wednesday 25th September 2013 in News
A coffee morning in aid of Macmillan and in memory of a well-known Halstead man will be held on Friday 27 September.
The event, which is part of Macmillan's Biggest Coffee Morning fundraisers, is being organised by cousins Teresa Pritchard, who started the event in 2005, and Julie Edwards.
Mrs Edwards said: "It has grown each year and in total we have raised £5,565.
"As well as the coffee morning we do a cake sale in the afternoon at St Andrews Primary School, Halstead where our children have attended up until last year.
"Teresa's dad, my uncle, Fred Humphrey from Beridge Road Halstead, died from cancer 7 years ago next month. He was a member of Halstead Road Runners, worked at Rippers in Hedingham for many years and was a quiet unassuming man."
The coffee morning will include games such as Guess The Name of the Teddy, a raffle with super prizes, tombola, Bring and Buy corner, homemade jams and more. It will run at the Halstead Cricket Club, Colne Engaine Road, between 10am and 2pm.
