Halstead: Rehab centre planned at former care home
9:00am Friday 13th September 2013 in News
A former care home in the grounds of Halstead Hospital is likely to re-open as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre.
Halstead Lodge, in Hedingham Road, Halstead, has been closed since last May, when elderly residents were relocated.
The new centre could provide a job boost to the town, with applicant Eytan Alexander seeking to recruit locally for roles such as nurses and cooks.
Mr Alexander said: “It is a private clinic and it is more upmarket than anything else.
“What I liked about Halstead is it is a very nice, quiet, serene area set away from everything.
“I have been looking for about a year and a half - I wanted it to be right.“
Users of the facility would be mostly people with alcohol problems, who would typically stay for one to three months at a time.
