Halstead: Family car damaged by hit and run driver
5:00pm Tuesday 17th September 2013 in News
A family fear they will be left more than £1500 out-of-pocket after their car was so badly damaged in a hit-and-run they thought a bus had hit it.
Louise Johnson, 33, of Chapel Hill, Halstead, was horrified when her husband Scott, 41, discovered the damage to her car at 8.30am on Tuesday morning.
“It’s awful, I can’t believe that someone didn’t stop, they must have noticed because they hit it so hard the handle on the door has been ripped off and the back panel smashed in,” said Mrs Johnson.
“We thought maybe it was a bus because of the extent of the damage and spoke to local bus companies but it turned out it wasn’t. It’s the last thing you need after you get back from a ten-hour night shift.”
The family are pleading for anyone who may know who hit their car to get in touch as the estimated damage may cost up to £1500.
“My husband is a car body repair specialist but doesn’t normally deal with crash damage but is going to see what he can do as we don’t want to go through our insurance as we don’t know who did it."
Anyone with information should call Mrs Johnson on 01787 581504.
